MetriXFreight L13x automates parcel measurement for greater efficiency and transparency
How digital parcel and mailer measurement optimizes processes and drives sustainable logistics
Erlangen, 07.04.2026 (PresseBox) - With MetriXFreight L13x, Metrilus GmbH expands its MetriXFreight platform with a specialized technology for the automated measurement of parcels and shipping bags. The L13x product line enables precise and efficient capture of smaller shipments and is available both as a tabletop system and as a conveyor-based solution. The high-performance system converts physical freight movements into precise digital logistics data. By capturing weight, volume, and dimensions in real time, it creates a new level of transparency in material flow while significantly reducing manual effort.
Rising shipment volumes, increasing variety, and growing cost pressure are creating new challenges for logistics operations. Efficiency is no longer defined by speed alone but increasingly depends on the quality and availability of data. MetriXFreight L13x captures this data automatically within the material flow, enabling comprehensive data-driven process control.
Data capture without compromising efficiency
MetriXFreight L13x not only saves capacity through automation and seamless integration into existing processes. The data generated through parcel and mailer measurement also enhances transparency, efficiency, and sustainability across the supply chain.
The system captures a wide range of shipment types, including cartons, boxes, polybags, and mailing bags. Volume data is recorded in real time directly on the conveyor or at the workstation and complemented by actual weight using an integrated scale.
Volume and weight as a holistic foundation
The captured measurement data is immediately available for downstream processes, forming a reliable basis for billing, capacity planning, and long-term logistics optimization. At the same time, automated data capture reduces the error rate of manual processes and eliminates inefficient correction loops along the process chain.
In addition, the measurement data is supplemented with image capture. This creates a comprehensive and seamless data foundation that also serves as a reliable basis for compliance and as proof for customers and partners. For applications with regulatory requirements, MetriXFreight also offers a certified version that complies with common standards such as OIML/MID and NTEP.
Seamless integration and implementation – even during live operations
MetriXFreight L13x has been developed with a strong practical focus and is specifically designed for seamless integration into existing processes and IT infrastructures. Standard interfaces enable straightforward connectivity to established WMS, TMS, and ERP systems. Thanks to minimal installation effort and an intuitive system architecture, smooth implementation is possible even during ongoing operations.
Two installation variants provide flexibility across different use cases, from compact workstations to fully integrated solutions. In addition, remote support and maintenance ensure high system availability while reducing operational effort.
Immediate efficiency with a sustainable impact
“The development of MetriXFreight L13x was driven equally by practical requirements and long-term vision. The system delivers immediate relief, simplification, and efficiency gains in intralogistics operations while also unlocking significant potential for sustainable digital transformation,” says Dr.-Ing. Christian Schaller, CEO of Metrilus GmbH.
The consistent, automated capture of data in intralogistics and shipping centers delivers both operational and strategic value. As Christian Schaller emphasizes: “Logistics without data is blind flight. If you don’t understand your shipments, you can’t manage them.” The continuously growing data base becomes a key lever for transparent and scalable material flows. MetriXFreight L13x thus forms a core pillar for future-ready logistics operations.
